Our Heritage
From Naresuan University Phayao
SAFA traces its roots to the Product and Packaging Design program under the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Naresuan University’s Phayao campus.
SAFA Established
When Naresuan University Phayao became the University of Phayao on 17 July 2010, the program separated into a new academic unit. On 1 October 2010 the School of Architecture and Fine Arts was officially established, initially offering a B.F.A. in Product and Packaging Design.
Moving to Our Building
On 18 August 2011 the faculty office relocated from the temporary shared building (Phu Kam Yao) to the current SAFA building, providing dedicated spaces for studios, classrooms, and administration.
Expanding to Four Fields + Master’s
The school expanded from its single original program into two undergraduate degrees across four fields — Architecture, Interior Architecture, Art & Design, and Music & Dance — plus a Master of Architecture in Interdisciplinary Creative Architecture.
15th Anniversary
In February 2026 SAFA celebrated 15 years with the “Young U D CRAFT” festival and laid the foundation stone for a new workshop building (อาคารปฏิบัติการ), marking the next phase of growth for hands-on creative education.

Our hierarchy is designed for collaboration, ensuring every department communicates seamlessly to provide a holistic educational experience.
