Our Heritage
From Naresuan University Phayao
SAFA traces its roots to the Product and Packaging Design program under the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Naresuan University's Phayao campus.
SAFA Established
When Naresuan University Phayao Campus was elevated to the University of Phayao on 17 July 2010, the program became an independent academic unit. On 1 October 2010, the School of Architecture and Fine Arts was officially established, offering its first degree: Bachelor of Fine Arts in Product and Packaging Design.
Moved to New Building
On 18 August 2011, the school office relocated from the temporary building (Phu Kham Yot) to the current SAFA building, which provides dedicated studio spaces, classrooms, and administrative offices.
Expanded to 4 Programs + Master's Degree
The school grew from a single program to 2 bachelor's degrees across 4 disciplines — Architecture, Interior Architecture, Art and Design, and Music and Performing Arts — plus a Master of Architecture in Interdisciplinary Creative Architecture.
15th Anniversary
In February 2026, SAFA celebrated its 15th anniversary with the "Young U D CRAFT" festival and a groundbreaking ceremony for a new laboratory building — a major milestone in the growth of hands-on creative education.
