Lecturer Dutrudee Makprasert showcased “Tranquil House” at ASA 2026, blending Thai identity, nature, and elderly-friendly design.
Dutrudee Makprasert, a lecturer in the Bachelor of Architecture program, exhibited the work “Tranquil House” at the ASA All Member Exhibition in the Everyday Urbanism and Informality section from April 28 to May 3, 2026, at IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Challenger Halls 1-3, Nonthaburi Province.
“Tranquil House”
The design concept for the house was inspired by its surrounding context, conveyed through a case study of the Ban Pong Sanuk Nua community, Wiang Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province, which was the site of the project. This is an old community in a conservation area distinguished by its cultural richness. Several important temples are in this community, including Wat Pong Sanuk Nua, which has received a UNESCO conservation award. The setting is closely connected to nature, characteristic of rural communities, with temples at the center of the village, clusters of houses interwoven with modern lifestyles, and surrounding agricultural spaces. Contemporary elements were incorporated into the house design to create a tranquil garden atmosphere. The architecture harmonized with the environment, promoting Thai identity, and the functional spaces were suitably designed for the elderly. As a result, this was a comfortable home for everyone living together.
"Tranquil House harmonizes Thai identity, nature, and elderly-friendly living, creating a peaceful home for all generations."
